In the latest update from the Government of Goa, tourists who visit Goa and who do not wear masks will be photographed and would be fined if found when roaming around the city. This comes after it was found that many people were roaming around without wearing masks thus risking the increase of Coronavirus.
Panaji Mayor Uday Madkaikar on Monday made a crucial announcement and said that the police will now find such tourists, photograph them, and will impose a penalty for not wearing masks as a lesson.
It has been come to notice that the tourists when asked to wear masks, became abusive towards the authorities and that was intolerable for the authorities hence speaking about this the Mayor said “In view of these unnecessary tussles, police will now accompany our municipality officials during drives to enforce the use of face masks in public. Photos of tourists who do not follow the rule will also be taken before they are directed to pay fines.”
He additionally said, that they do not want to harass people but some tourists have created a ruckus during the enforcement drives and he mentioned that “People should visit Goa, but they should not take the state’s people for granted. The objective of wearing masks is to keep everyone safe from coronavirus,”
Only last week the government of Goa doubled the fines for not wearing masks to INR 200.
Of late, after the borders were reopened for tourism, Goa has been flooded with tourists and people from all over the country are visiting the beach state and it has resulted in unimaginable crowds to visit the location for its beaches and touristic destination.
