Assam makes covid testing compulsory for vaccinated tourists – MacroTraveller

In recent changes, the government of Assam has made covid testing compulsory for vaccinated people. An official order was released by the Government where the state is said to withdraw their previous order of exempted mandatory covid testing for fully vaccinated tourists arriving via air/train.

This sudden change in the decision was undertaken after cases of Fully vaccinated tourists contracting coronavirus and have tested positive has emerged in the state.  The order was issued on Thursday by the Health and Family Welfare department which said that the earlier order of June 25, 2021, stands withdrawn with immediate effect.

In their latest notification, they mentioned, “Covid positivity is observed even in some of the person(s) who have received two doses of vaccination in a few instances”.

The state of Assam has been screening each and every passenger arriving via train and flights continuously and all airports and train stations have been conducting Covid tests for passengers arriving at the state since the first wave of coronavirus.

Assam has recorded 5,42,445 positive cases and 4937 deaths with an overall recovery rate of 95.32 per cent. This list is according to the list provided by the National Health Mission.
