Josh Allen flops, draws roughing the passer call and James Harden comparisons vs. Ravens

Josh Allen might have hardware in his future, including an Oscar award.

NFL referees aren’t strangers to throwing flags on questionable roughing the passer calls, but seldom times do quarterbacks have to go out of their way to draw the flag. Enter Josh Allen, who may have just invented a new meta for quarterbacks in the NFL.

Allen and the Bills were the beneficiaries of a pretty soft roughing the passer call in their divisional matchup vs. the Ravens on Saturday night, and Allen did almost all the work on it:

This Allen flop was straight out of the James Harden playbook: throw the head back, throw the arms up, act like a sniper just took you out from Section 323.

Could Ravens defender Justin Madubuike have pulled up? Maybe. But for however much safety is at the forefront for NFL quarterbacks, especially the higher-profile ones like Allen, maybe we should keep the flags in the belt loop for obvious, gentle, two-hand shoves.

The call kept the Bills’ drive alive and helped them take a 3-0 lead over Baltimore in the first quarter. Plenty of observers had thoughts on the Allen flop:

Thankfully, Allen was OK after the heinous attack.
