Giants QB Daniel Jones rips off 80-yard run; of course, he trips himself short of goal line

Daniel Jones is the Giants’ leading rusher this season, which is probably more of an indictment of New York’s running game without Saquon Barkley than it is indicative of Jones’ explosiveness.

That being said, Jones proved to everyone watching the bad Giants-Eagles “Thursday Night Football” game that he can definitely scoot. After an exchange of punts early in the second half, Jones kept the ball on a read option, ran to his right and saw nothing but grass in front of him. Jones blazed past the Eagles’ defense, which was nowhere to be seen.

No one was catching him either . . . until he got tripped up by the turf monster.

Of course, the internet had to have some fun with Jones’ lack of grace.

Heck, even Jones’ teammates couldn’t help but laugh.

Neither could former NFL lineman Ross Tucker, who was working as analyst on the national radio broadcast.

Still, it was an impressive 80-yard run, and the Giants were able to punch it into the end zone a few plays later on a 1-yard run by Wayne Gallman.

Jones’ run is the fourth-longest rush in Giants history, and the longest by a QB. Jones is one of three QBs in the NFL to lead his team in rushing this season, along with the Ravens’ Lamar Jackson and the Patriots’ Cam Newton.

Unfortunately for Jones, he and the Giants both came up a little short, as the Eagles came back to win 22-21.
