Police are going to need to do a lot more explaining tomorrow because they just dropped some news late tonight that’s troubling, on top of a day of troubling news.
According to the police, in addition to the shooting death of Ashli Babbitt, who was unarmed and shot by the police inside the Capitol while trying to go through a window, the police said that three other people died in “medical emergencies” during the protest.

The Metro Police Department Chief Robert J. Contee mentioned the three additional people who died almost as an aside, without any details whatsoever apart from calling them “medical emergencies.”
So what does that mean? They had heart attacks? They died after police cracked them in the head? Where’s the greater explanation for that? Four people dying during a protest and three of them not really being explained seems to be a rather significant thing. The chief didn’t even both to offer any further explanation. Reports did say that the cause of death of the three people will be determined by the Medical Examiner. But it seems odd that there are no facts being offered at all as to the circumstances.
52 people were also arrested during the protest action, most of them, 47, were arrested for violating the Mayor’s 6 p.m. curfew in the District. Ten people were also injured in the melee.
Democrats of course blamed it all on the president, calling for him to be removed from office.
“The President incited an insurrection in the U.S. Capitol today,” tweeted House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-Mass.). “The 25th Amendment should be invoked, and he should be removed from office. What we witnessed in Washington today was an assault on the citadel of democracy.”
Some Republicans who had been supportive of objecting to the electoral count then backed away from objecting to the count because of the protests, which showed their faith to the Constitution was pretty fickle to begin with if they weren’t able to stand on their principles. Meanwhile the count, and some objections are continuing.
