As we reported earlier, the Biden administration got off to a rocky start within hours of the inauguration festivities when not only Joe Biden was spotted not wearing a mask while on federal property, but family members and his press secretary Jen Psaki were seen doing the same.
Their actions were a direct violation of the first executive order Biden issued in his presidency hours earlier, an EO that mandated masks be worn at all times while on federal property during the pandemic:

Earlier today, Psaki was asked about Biden and his family appearing at the Lincoln Memorial without wearing masks – not by anyone from the Mask Patrol who used to hound the Trump administration incessantly about mask-wearing, but by Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy, whose made clear the reason he was asking about the maskless Biden’s had less to do with mask-shaming and more to do with double standards:
“Why weren’t President Biden and all members of the Biden family masked at all times last night if he signed an executive order that mandates masks on federal lands at all times?” Doocy inquired while wearing a mask.
Psaki, not wearing a mask, responded by saying Biden “was celebrating an evening, a historic day in our country. And certainly, he signed the mask mandate because it’s a way to send a message to the American public about the importance of wearing masks, how it can save tens of thousands of lives. We take a number of Covid precautions, as you know,” she proclaimed while listing examples of those precautions. “I don’t know that I have more for you on it than that.”
Doocy did not let her slide on her non-answer.
“But as Joe Biden often talks about, it is not just important the example of power but the power of our example, was that a good example for people watching who might not pay attention normally?” Doocy asked in a follow-up question.
Psaki’s answer gave up the game.
“I think the power of his example is also the message he sends by signing 25 executive orders — including almost half of them related to Covid,” she stated. “The requirements that we’re all under every day here to ensure we’re sending that message to the public. Yesterday was a historic moment in our history. He was inaugurated as President of the United States. He was surrounded by his family. We take a number of precautions, but I think we have bigger issues to worry about at this moment in time.”
And there you have it. As long as it’s a Democrat celebrating a special day, it’s ok. Besides: “I think we have bigger issues to worry about at this moment in time.”
“Masks are our patriotic duty” – President Biden for the past 6 months.

Basically what has happened here is that the Biden administration has undercut the left’s entire argument about the importance of wearing masks in a matter of 24 hours by suggesting that it’s okay to do it on special occasions:
.@JoeBiden‘s 2020 campaign was about wearing masks. The idea was about modeling good behavior, as opposed to the Orange Man Bad. On Day One, BidenBas signed a mask mandate that he and his family immediately disobeyed. He’s still disobeying. @PressSec Jen Psaki’s excuses didn’t wash.

So it’s okay for Biden to violate his own mask mandates as long as it happens “during a moment of togetherness” with his family on a special day. Got it. Somehow I don’t think that excuse would have worked (or would work) for a Republican. 🤔 https://t.co/vUDWmVF48P

Here are the New Mask Exception Rules, for anyone wondering:
So far, federal exempts from @POTUS MANDATORY FEDERAL MASK MANDATE:
1. Happy family occasions.
2. Giving interviews.
3. Parties celebrating new jobs.
4. Press conferences.
Anything I’m missing?

.@pdoocy asked Jen Psaki why Joe Biden was NOT wearing a mask at the Lincoln Memorial even though he signed an Executive Order mandating masks on federal lands at all times.
Psaki: “He was celebrating.”
So, if you get caught without a mask, use the “I’m celebrating” defense.
