As we are still living through unprecedented times, there is a new app on the block that is currently making U.S. cities safer. Say hello to Tipster – the phone app that sends you public safety at your fingertips.
Tipster is the recently new free app that provides users with relevant and reliable public safety. From tips and resources to news and alerts, it’s all in front of you. Sourced by city, state, and federal departments, the platform functions in 57 major cities across the U.S., including Washington, DC; Los Angeles, CA; Dallas, Texas; and more. Below are pictures of how users can view alerts, as they can also search via topic.
As seen in the pictures above, there are a variety of topics that are listed. These topics range from human sex trafficking, violent crimes, COVID-19 updates, or even just basic public safety announcements. The platform also helps free up police resources to focus on more urgent issues.
CEO of Tipster, Annelyn Sanchez is the mastermind behind the app, as she was inspired to create the platform after witnessing a shooting incident outside of her office that involved a child.
“The incidents range from recent scams, missing persons, unsolved crime, air quality updates, and COVID-19 vaccination information,” Annelyn says. “By scrolling through the news feed, people stay informed of their current city or can explore other locations for travel plans, out-of-state loved-ones, or verifying information found on mainstream media. You may select to be notified of alerts and daily or weekly evening headlines.”
As Tipster is not particularly a social media platform, their mission is to connect, inform, and unite communities for a safer nation.
“Our public safety industry needs to be revolutionized and updated to the 21st century,” Annelyn says. “By creating a platform dedicated to public safety, we plan to lead the way by first providing easily accessible and transparent communication to the public. Social media algorithms, noise, & misinformation cost lives. As the proverb says, rather than curse the darkness, we have decided to light a candle.”
Tipster is also provided in Spanish, and will plan to add more languages in the foreseeable future.
