President Biden Says It’s A ‘Big Mistake’ For Mississippi & Texas To Lift COVID-19 Restrictions – The Shade Room

On Wednesday, President Biden responded to the governors of Texas and Mississippi lifting COVID-19 restrictions.

During a press conference Biden was asked his thoughts surrounding the announcements, he told reporters, “I think it’s a big mistake. I hope everybody’s realized by now these masks make a difference.”

Biden continued, “We are on the cusp of being able to fundamentally change the nature of this disease because of the way we’re able to get vaccines in people’s arms.”

He noted there will be enough vaccines available for all adults by May, but everyone won’t be vaccinated until the end of summer.

“The last thing we need is Neanderthal thinking that in the meantime everything’s fine, take off your mask, forget it. It still matters.”

Biden also added, “We will not have everybody vaccinated until sometime in the summer.

As you know, on Tuesday, TX. Governor Abbott announced the state will also lift its mandate and businesses can operate at full capacity.

He also stated, “Today’s announcement doesn’t abandon safe practices that Texans have mastered over the past year. Instead, it’s a reminder that each person has a role to play in their own personal safety & the safety of others. With this executive order, we are ensuring that all businesses and families in Texas have the freedom to determine their own destiny.”

Not long after Governor Abbott made his announcement, MS. Governor Reeves followed suit and said, “Starting tomorrow, we are lifting all of our county mask mandates and businesses will be able to operate at full capacity without any state-imposed rules. Our hospitalizations and case numbers have plummeted, and the vaccine is being rapidly distributed. It is time!”

Though some people feel the need to become more relaxed, experts say restrictions should continue, even though we now have vaccines in place because they’re not yet available to everyone.
