While most people were spending time with their significant others for Valentine’s Day, rapper Fivio Foreign decided to do something different. He spent part of his Valentine’s Day spreading love to those in need by giving back to single mothers and domestic violence victims living in shelters. Fivio was able to put a smile on the women’s faces in Brooklyn & the Bronx at the “Million Dollar Drive-By” event. The giveaway was organized by Melissa Gabriel and her sister Giovanni Pierre- Louis from “Million Dollar TV,” also in partnership with Fivio’s nonprofit organization “Foreignside Foundation.” The organization is geared towards providing beneficial resources and programs for AT-RISK YOUTH, the homeless, current & former gang-affiliated individuals, incarcerated individuals, and communities that are in need of supplemental AND EDUCATIONAL assistance.
At the event, Fivio gave the women roses, snacks, teddy bears, and gift bags that included candles and more from Black-owned companies. He also took time to pose for photos. In addition, inside the gift bags, each woman received a handwritten note from Fivio to uplift their spirits and remind them that their situation is temporary. Councilmember Farah N. Louis from Brooklyn’s 45th district was also at the event in support and assisted Fivio in passing out some of the gifts.
Melissa advised TSR exclusively that she started the drive by event one year ago, and she normally does these types of events with well-known rappers from the New York area. She mentioned that the reason her organization parted with Fivio was due to his mom passing away, and her death inspired him to want to help women in shelters who face hardships.
